IR35 Confused?

Jun 26, 2012

by

Don’t worry, it seems law abiding civil servants are ‘confused’ too. As a result the chief secretary of the Treasury, Danny Alexander, discovered in May 2012 that over 2,400 civil servants earning £58,200 each per annum have been ‘off payroll’ for more than 10 years. Because of the IR35 regulations it seems they have over stepped the guide lines and, therefore, may be liable for hefty penalty paybacks.

There is obviously a valuable lesson to be learnt here – if chief execs in senior positions can get this wrong, what chance does the general average Joe have? As Knowles Warwick tax consultants working on behalf of you in any dispute with HMRC, we have the hands on experience and knowledge to make sure this doesn’t happen to you.

If you’re unsure about any tax issues, in particular confused with the regulation of the IR35 – get in touch and let us put your mind at rest.
