An accountant has been voted Miss USA 2013, according to an article in Accounting Today.

25 year-old Erin Brady from Connecticut works for Prudential Financial and studies finance at Central Connecticut State University. The beautiful brainiac won the pageant with her answer to a question about the American Supreme Court’s recent decision to uphold the right of police departments to collect and keep DNA from people who have been arrested for crimes. Brady is expected to spend her title reign travelling across the USA raising awareness of breast and ovarian cancer, which is the organisation’s official cause.

Unlike the contest’s rival pageant, Miss America, Miss USA does not require contestants to showcase a talent, but we bet the stunning and smart Miss Connecticut could have wowed the crowd with her knowledge of US Fiscal policy. The winner of the Miss USA contest goes on to represent the nation at the globally acknowledged Miss Universe pageant, so Brady will have plenty more chances to show off her amazing accounting abilities to audiences worldwide.

It is refreshing to see an intelligent and beautiful woman receiving some recognition, and we look forward to seeing more accountants and businesswomen being acknowledged for their achievements.
